Ana Oltean

Ana Ioana Oltean Zehnder studied flute in Cluj-Napoca and Bern (Switzerland), with Vasile Gocan, Gavril Costea and Heidi-Peter Indermühle as tutors. He has won several prizes at national and international competitions, sum cum laude and the Eduard Tschumi prize for the best soloist diploma at the Academy of Music and Theatre (now the Academy of Arts) in Bern in 2002. Four years later he initiated and conducted 10 editions of the Summer Flute Courses in Bistrita, including two editions for flute and clarinet. In order to write the book The Role of the Body in Relation to the Instrument – A Manual for Flutists, Instrumentalists and Pedagogues (as a diploma thesis), Ana graduates with the highest grade from a special Master’s program (Musikvermittlung- Musical Mediation) at the Academy of Music in Trossingen (Germany). The book is translated into Romanian and published by the publishing house Născut Liber in Bistrita. Also at Trossingen she has Linde Brunmayr-Tutz as a tutor in the study of the baroque flute, an instrument she is still passionate about. She performs regularly in the baroque music ensemble Die Freitagsakademie.

In addition to her concert work, Ana teaches the flute and conducts continuing education courses for flute teachers in Romania. For this and to help inform young instrumentalists and teachers, to support them on their professional-artistic path, she created the MuziCult Association. In 2013 he gathered interested teachers in Bistrita, during the Summer Courses for flute, to lay the foundations of the flute method for beginners Flautino. The forum became a continuing education course in 2015, being organized by Casa Corpului Didactic Bistrița (2015-2017) and Cluj (2017, 2018). The team of flute teachers continues to meet annually. The first booklet Flautino 1 was published in 2016, and booklets 2 and 3 in autumn 2019.

Through her concert programs and her interest in diverse musical and artistic styles, Ana bridges the gap between tradition and innovation. A particular passion is to discover and present little or unknown composers/composers to the public. A proof of this search is her debut CD Ladies first !, released in 2010, containing pieces by European composers of the 20th century. XVIII-XXI and the double CD with the complete chamber music with and for flute by composer Günter Raphael (1903-1960), released in September 2019.
