The ICon Arts Transilvania Composition Residency will take place between 26 July – 3 August 2025 in the picturesque landscape of Copșa Mare, Biertan. Organized in partnership with the Contemporary Music Centre Dublin, the program fosters a dynamic and creative cultural exchange between selected young Irish and Romanian composers. Over the course of the residency, the participants will develop new works for instrumental ensemble, drawing inspiration from the lush and serene natural surroundings of Transylvania.
Dr. Mihai Murariu – lecturer at the National University of Music Bucharest, acclaimed pianist and composer.
Dr. Diana Gheorghiu – composer, co-founder of the ICon Arts Academy & Festival, and artistic director of several high-impact cultural initiatives with both national and international recognition over the past 20 years.
Selected composers: Laura Heneghan (IE), Santiago Kodela (IE), Anda Ștefania Baciu (RO), George Păiș (RO). The composition residency is part of the ICon Arts Transilvania Academy and Festival, co-funded by: Ministerul Culturii. Cultural partner: Contemporary Music Centre Dublin.
