Wojciech Fudala

Wojciech Fudala was born in a Polish family of long artistic traditions. He divides his musical activity between concert life and teaching. One of his artistic missions is to promote music of Mieczysław Wajnberg, a Polish-Jewish composer whose lifework has been almost forgotten for decades. He has premiered CD albums for such labels as DUX, Brilliant Classics, CD Accord, Chandos and ZigZag Territoires.
As a Young Artist in Residence at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel he studied under renowned cellist Gary Hoffman. He also worked with prof. Paweł Głombik and Jeroen Reuling at the Katowice Music Academy and Brussels Royal Conservatory.
He made his solo debut in 2007 performing C. Saint-Saens cello concerto with the Silesian Philharmonic Orchestra. Since then he continues a concert life performing all over the world. As a soloist he has cooperated with numerous ensembles: Brussel Chamber Orchestra, Orchestre Royal de Chambre de Wallonie, Polish Baltic Philharmony, NFM – Wrocław Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestre Philharmonique Royal de Liege. He performed under such conductors as Augustin Dumay, Łukasz Borowicz, Michael Guttman, Massimiliano Caldi and Eiji Oue.
Chamber music takes an important part in his musical life. He performs regularly as a member of the FudalaRot Duo together with a pianist Michał Rot. He is also a member of the Polish Cello Quartet. Both formations lead a dynamic activity. They have performed at the most important concert halls in Europe and South America (Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Warsaw Philharmonic, NOSPR) as well as China and Japan (HongKong City Hall, Osaka Expo2025). They receive invitations from important festivals (Cello Biennale Amsterdam, Festival Cervantino, Klara Festival, Wratislavia Cantans). He has premiered dozens of new compositions commissioned by PCQ. As a guest artist he has cooperated with such outstanding artists as Priya Mitchell, Lorenzo Gatto, Agata Szymczewska, Giovanni Sollima, Gary Hoffman, Dominik Połoński, Francois Guye, Eldar Nebolsin, Mateusz Borowiak, Maria Szwajger-Kułakowska, Christoph Schiller, Daniel Stabrawa.
Rediscovering music is an important mission for him as an artist. Experiencing a music of Mieczysław Wajnberg was a giant step in a formation of FudalaRot Duo. They have recorded Wajnberg music for DUX and Brilliant Classics labels. Their CD with Mieczysław Wajnberg complete works for cello and piano was the first Polish recording of that material.
Wojciech Fudala also devotes himself to the art of teaching. He is leading a cello class at the Academy of Music Łódź. Since 2014 together with members of PCQ he leads an artistic direction at the International Cello Academy. It is a unique cello festival and masterclass which consolidates European cello society.
Since 2014 he is a solo cellist of NFM – Wrocław Philharmonic. Wojciech Fudala plays an instrument built in Antwerp by an outstanding luthier Anton Somers.
